Commercial waste removal in Westminster

We clear and collect business waste across the City of Westminster with our own crew and van. Waste is loaded from inside your premises by arrangement, so it does not wait on the street for a collection time.

We provide commercial waste removal in Westminster for offices, shops, restaurants, bars, hotels and managed buildings, from one-off rubbish removal to regular collections and waste disposal with full paperwork. Access is tight here, and the council sets rules for when business waste can go out on the street. We plan around both. Our crew loads the van from inside your premises, by arrangement, so the waste does not sit on the street waiting for a collection time.

Commercial waste in Westminster: what we clear

We do one-off clearances and scheduled repeat collections on days you pick. We leave no bins or skips on site. Typical work includes:

  • offices in Mayfair, St James's and Marylebone: office clearance, including refits and clear-outs;
  • shops on Oxford Street and Bond Street: shop clearance;
  • restaurants and bars in Soho and Covent Garden: we do not take food waste, cooking oil or liquids, so see our restaurant waste management guide;
  • offices and hotels in Paddington and Victoria, collected on days that suit the building;
  • building work: builders' waste.

Businesses that need a regular service can set up trade waste collection, and account terms can be agreed. We do not take hazardous, clinical or chemical waste, asbestos, food waste, cooking oil or liquids, and we do not offer certified confidential shredding. To get a price, send photos through the contact form or on WhatsApp. You get one fixed price in writing.

Westminster council commercial waste, and how our van service differs

Westminster runs its own council commercial waste service. Its commercial waste pages list general waste, mixed recycling, paper and cardboard, glass, food waste, bulky waste and confidential waste. It sells commercial waste bags on a pre-paid basis, and it prefers bins where possible, with bags for places where bins are not possible (council bag page).

The council service and ours suit different jobs. The bins-first approach suits businesses with room for bins. A van clearance or scheduled pickup from us suits:

  • a business with no bin arrangement and no room for bins;
  • bulky items and furniture that will not go in bags;
  • a one-off clear-out, such as a move;
  • a refit, where a large amount of waste comes out at once.

Local rules for putting waste out in Westminster

Westminster council sets rules for when and how business waste can be put on the street:

  • each street has an allocated collection time, and these times apply to businesses and residents whichever collector is used. Businesses cannot choose the time (council collection times page);
  • bags may go out no earlier than 30 minutes before that time (Waste Enforcement Policy 2020);
  • commercial waste cannot be presented in ordinary black bags (council bag page);
  • bags left out at the wrong time can be left behind, and they remain the business's responsibility (council collection page).

For the detail, see our guide to Westminster commercial waste collection times.

Penalties apply when the rules are broken. Failing to produce a waste transfer note when asked can bring a £300 fixed penalty (£180 if paid within 10 days) (council waste transfer note page). Wrong-time presentation and fly-tipping can lead to fixed penalties or prosecution (council fixed penalty page).

GOV.UK says a business must complete a waste transfer note for each load that leaves its premises, check that its waste carrier is registered, and sort and store waste safely (GOV.UK business waste guide). Commercial Rubbish is run by Rid Junk Ltd, an Environment Agency upper tier waste carrier and dealer (CBDU502847, valid to 16 September 2029). We give a waste transfer note and an invoice on every job.

Access, loading and timing in Westminster

The council's loading page says commercial vehicles may load on single or double yellow lines for 20 minutes between 11am and 6:30pm, and for longer in the early morning and evening, where no loading ban is in place (council loading and unloading page). Loading is not allowed where a loading ban is in place, on zig zag lines, or in specialist and suspended bays. Red routes have their own rules, set by signs and road markings (TfL red routes). We plan around these limits, around building managers and their contractor rules, and around goods lifts.

Much of central Westminster is inside the Congestion Charge zone, and the whole borough is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), which TfL says runs 24 hours a day, every day except Christmas Day. Our hours are Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm, with evenings, early starts and Sundays by arrangement.
